Djehuty, owner of the tomb-chapel TT 11, lived and died under the joint reign of Hatshepsut-Thutmose III. Coming from Hermopolis in Middle Egypt, he was entrusted in Thebes with the silver and gold houses, collecting taxes from local rulers and registering the exotic products brought from Punt in year 9. Acting as royal treasurer, he supplied metals, semi-precious stones and fine woods to lavishly decorate the temples that were then under construction, such as Karnak and Djeser-djeseru in Deir el-Bahari. His rock cut tomb-chapel, located at the northern end of the Theban necropolis, in Dra Abu el-Naga, is fully decorated with inscriptions and scenes in relief. The high point of his funerary monument is the burial chamber, having two of the walls and the ceiling written with a selection of chapters from the Book of the Dead, meant to wrap him during his journey to the hereafter and and grant him protection in his eternal existence in the afterlife.
